What it does
The 'rotational safety hook' passes through the vertical member of the scaffold through the rotation of the safety hooks. As a result, it is possible to move to the next horizontal member without the manual detachment process of the worker.
Your inspiration
Among the accidents at construction sites in Korea, 'fall accidents' account for the largest proportion. Existing construction sites use safety hooks to prevent falls, but construction workers were not wearing safety equipment properly. Through interviews and research papers, we realized that the reason is that the frequent detachment of safety hooks is that they feel uncomfortable in the working environment and do not wear them. Therefore, we started this project to reduce the inconvenience of removing safety hooks felt by construction workers and to help them continue to use safety hook that are important to construction workers.
How it works
By two parts which one has hole and another one likes cylinder, It can loop vertical structure on scaffold.
Design process
We are focused on problem that has to iterate attaching and detaching safety hook on scaffold. So we thought so many mechanism that solves the problem. finally we made this mechanism and we thought it is feasible. And then we made this prototype by 3D-printer. Lastly we used analysis tool for safety. By this analysis we supplemented the safety by additional structure.
How it is different
Safety hooks at construction sites all have the same shape and are inconvenient to move. The new technologies that are coming out now are smart safety devices that mainly use IoT technology. These are things that help safety managers supervise safety whether the construction worker is wearing safety equipment while working. Although it is not actually used in the construction site as a device to reduce the inconvenience of construction workers, Most patents are mainly intended to make the attachment and detachment of safety hooks a little more convenient. Therefore, it may be easier to remove safety hooks when used in the field. But there is still an inconvenience of having to continue to detach the safety hook every 2m. So, we're trying to reduce the inconvenience of workers in construction sites Our product can solve this problem by new mechanism!
Future plans
We will make this mechanism more smoothly for construction workers. For this reason, we will make more prototype for make mechanism more feasible and analysis more for safety. Actually, this mechanism works little poor but we still think we can solve this problem by try and error. Then, we will find a way to make the prototype smoother, and test for safety and usability by making it with actual materials like Al Alloy.
