What it does

Our sprinkler helps reduce the consumption of water needed to water green areas, and it also has a filter to reduce the amount of bacteria and reduce the amount of chemicals needed to keep green areas in good condition.

Your inspiration

We were inspired by the drought that Mexico is currently facing, we realized that a large amount of water is used to irrigate green areas, that different tools such as hoses are in poor condition, which generates water leaks, in the same way we We realized that the water used is contaminated, which is why we needed a way to improve the quality of the water to irrigate the green areas and in this way reduce the amount of pesticides and insecticides that are needed to keep the green areas in good condition.

How it works

Our sprinkler has a soil humidity sensor that detects when this humidity is below 40%, when this is the case, a servovalve is activated that opens gradually to increase the irrigation diameter up to 3.98 meters in diameter, the irrigation time is 3 minutes and 4 liters per minute are used, likewise it has a .1 micron egg fiber filter, activated carbon and zeolite, which reduces the number of bacteria and parasites present in the water by 100%, with This reduces the amount of chemicals necessary to keep the green areas in good condition. It has a wireless charging battery inside, which eliminates the risk of water entering the body and preventing accidents for users who use it. our sprinkler

Design process

We started with an active observation, first we decided to focus on the irrigation system in agriculture, we started with different interviews and other empathy tools to get to know the user and the problem, then we realized that it would be much more useful to focus on irrigation in green areas but In residential areas, we carried out different branstormings, sketches of the shape our sprinkler could have, at the end of this stage we made different mockups, which allowed us to see the size of our sprinkler, the cover it would have and the shape, with these mockups we made different validations with users to address ergonomic issues, with this we redesigned the shape of the sprinkler and included all the relevant recommendations from the users with whom we tested the product, at the same time we made different functional prototypes with the filters, mechanisms and nozzles to see the flow of the water, this was vital to select the shape of the nozzle and the filter material, since with different filters the amount, pressure and flow of water was reduced.

How it is different

Our sprinkler has a filter which allows you to improve the quality of the water by reducing the amount of bacteria and parasites present in the water by 100%. It also has a servo valve that automatically adjusts the irrigation diameter to cover the largest possible area. irrigation, has a humidity sensor that constantly monitors the humidity of the soil to activate only when necessary, in this way the amount of water is reduced when watering the green areas, by making different comparisons we were able to see the areas of opportunity of different irrigators and see the way in which we can innovate and create a product with better characteristics thought about the environment and the user.

Future plans

We hope to do more studies on the electronic components such as the servovalve, to see that it works just as it did with the different prototypes that we validated during our LULU design process. Once this stage is completed, we hope to be able to start production to begin. with the sale of our irrigators online and by doing this we start with advertising so that people can purchase the irrigator, with this we will be helping to reduce water consumption when watering green areas.
