概要

SUFEC is combination of IoT and ML technologies which offer hydroponic farmers a solution to increase the quality of yield with shorter growth time.

経緯

At first, we pop up the idea that why don’t we build a farm in the city to let everyone have fresh vegetables everyday and no need to worry about that one day might facing the vegetables shortage and we need to buy expensive food from overseas. What came into our mind is, farmer need to farm and harvest the crops every day at field which is literally too tired for them. With technologies, we can develop a system that can transform traditional farming.

機能

SUFECS is an automated system which is specically built for vertical farming. With the combination of IoT devices, Web platform and machine learning, SUFECS can monitor, control and self-culture the current environment and alter it into an environment that is suitable for thegrowth of plant. With electronic sensors and microcontroller, SUFECS become an IoT system which able to collect the environmental parameters as temperature and store them in a database.Analysis and control of the parameters are achieved through the use of machine learning. Each plant growth cycle will be store as a dataset with hundreds of samples (minimum).

開発過程

Researches such as architecture of stacking vertical dimension, artificial intelligent to control the indoor environment had been experimented to construct food producing high rise vertical farm. Although these studies have quantified the crops productions, but it isn’t intelligent enough to fully utilize the physical hardware and virtual soft computing system because the growth rate of crops are remained the same. Technologies tools such as electronic sensors, microcontroller, actuator, etc. are combined to provide a nearly nature-based artificial environment for vertical farming. Effective use of data will optimize the crops production as well as shorten the growth rate. SUFECS is introduced to provide a better monitoring, controlling and intelligent system for urban farming, with the aim of reducing crops growth rate while optimizing the crops production.

One of the Atilze division is focusing on smart agriculture. With customize deployment of IoT sensor hub, Atilze is leading smart agriculture in Malaysia. IoT Sensor hubs produces by Atilze are focusing on open air and soil agriculture. While SUFECS is focusing on transforming farmer experienced in traditional farming to urban farming with industry revolution 4.0 technologies. SUFECS is exploring a new market whereby it is use to cultivate an articial environment for indoor plantation. It is a reinvented product which improved from monitoring system for hydroponic farming. SUFECS also advocate urban farming with technologies. New farmers with zero farming experiences are able to plant well with the assist of SUFECS. Parameters are suggested to ease the management in the farm.

将来の計画

SUFECS is targeting to apply in at least 1 urban farm in each cities, within Malaysia. Fullling the supply and demand rules within cities, every city can self sustain and supply enough food to the own citizen. Same scaling modal is planned to apply in developed countries as the demand of urban area is large way more than rural areas. The feedback and needs are more obvious comparing to under develop countries.
