What it does
Primo tailors to the initial fears behind skateboarding. Primo provides a product, service, and social platforms to guide beginners through the challenges harnessing their cognitive skills in a constructive pathway to optimize their success and safety.
Your inspiration
Being a skateboarder for more than thirteen years i have seen my friends get onto my board and end up hurting themselves.1/3 of the totally amount of injuries happen in the first week alone. This is even more problematic for children that don't have the physical and thinking skills to control a skateboard. Beginners are asked to adapt to the full exposure without any understanding on how to control their behaviours. want to make it easy for a beginner to try skateboarding without the initial fear of falling.
How it works
Primo is a product replaces the nut at the end of the truck. The function is to apply pressure to the wheel slowing it down so the rider can focus on their mind/body control to learn tricks faster. The product moves with the rider’s progression by loosening the tension on the wheel to eventually allowing the wheel to be completely free having full exposure. The second function is to use the shape to prevent the rider from landing on the board sideways when learning flip tricks.
Design process
Primo has been through several stages of development to arrive at a design that both works and is user friendly. Early prototypes worked but needed more durability. The current design is functional but is in current testing for future changes for more durability. It was important to me to keep the price as low as possible as well being small enough to be indistinguishable when riding the board.
How it is different
Primo is one of a kind. It is the only product that grows with the user to learn skateboarding from static to kinetic state. By swapping the moving component the product can work on skateboards, longboards, penny boards, or any other board variation because they all share the same thread pitch on the trucks. This product tailors to the complete market with being small, effective, and cheap to manufacture.
Future plans
I am currently exploring prototyping in different materials to make the product as durable and reliable as possible. The goal is to develop a longer lasting, customizable model with extreme durability for repeated use.
